What does narrator define as "the wild"? A crowd of people? A flock of a certain type of species? The world in general? A post-apocalyptic world? Or literally "the wild" as in a jungle/forest/sea/other nature landscape?
What purpose does the narrator serve? To sacrifice? To fight? Maybe "the wild" is a war and narrator is here to end it, or even to worsen it?
If items do not match your story, replace it with other items! Example: replace raincoat with necklace/hat/other accessories, or lantern with flashlight/lunch/bag/etc!
