You opened up your laptop and searched 'Stefan Mystic Falls' and you were not disappointed. Many results showed that he and his brother were definitely vampires, that was all the proof you needed. Even though Stefan had told you, you had to be sure. Vampires. They are like an infestation. One shows up and suddenly the whole town is full of them. You closed the laptop up and grabbed your keys and left.

Your third day at the mystic grill was easy enough, plenty of rude customers but you get that in most jobs. You make your way over to the man sitting in your area.
"Hello, have you decided what you're ordering with us today?" You put on your brightest smile, the man looked up from the menu, you felt your whole body tense. Stefan.

"Hello again." He smiled, you couldn't help but roll your eyes. "I'll just have some fries, thanks." He closed the menu and handed it to you.

"Any drinks?" You said through gritted teeth.

"No, I'm fine thanks." He smiled warmly at you, it was rare you'd seen a vampire smile like that. Then again, Stefan didn't know you had the cure running through your veins. If he did, he wouldn't be smiling like that at you, he would be feeding off of you and getting his vampire friends to do the same... You turned away and handed his order into the kitchen.

"(Y/N) Are you okay? You look a little tense?" Matt said from behind the bar, you didn't realise but you'd let out a massive sigh.

"What do you know about Stefan? The vampire." You blurred out, instantly realising what you'd just said.

"Vampire? You know about them?" Matt whispered. A sense of relief washed over you knowing that Matt understood. "Stefan is a weird one to describe." Matt shrugged. "He's nice enough, he dated my ex Elena before she ran off with his brother." He smiled at this, you couldn't help but feel sorry for him, only a little bit though.

"So he isn't gonna rip my head off?" You raised an eyebrow, Matt smiled warmly at you, easing your nerves.

"Not whilst he's drinking animal blood. I heard his nickname is the ripper when he's drinking human blood." Matt whispered, "Although I've just realised, he can probably hear everything we're saying. You know, supersonic hearing or something." Matt shrugged. You rolled your eyes, you knew he could probably hear you, you didn't really care. You were curious, maybe if he heard you, he'd tell you himself? You could have just asked him outright but there was something about him, something about his gaze that unsettled you.

"Table 2." The chef called, you collected the fries and made your way over to Stefan. You placed the fries on the table and smiled.

"Anything else I can get for you?" You asked.

"No, not unless you want to ask me the questions you asked Matt?" A smirk played upon his lips, you pursed your lips.

"I don't trust vampires." You frowned, Stefan nodded, as if he understood.

"A wise decision, really it is." He bit into one of his fries. "I don't even trust vampires."

"You are a vampire though?" You folded your arms, not believing a word he said.

"I'm not like most vampires." He sighed. "Some enjoy it for the feeding and the killing. Some enjoy it for super speed and the long lives." He looked at you, for a moment you was sure you could see a sadness within his eyes. "I didn't want to be a vampire, I was turned against my will. Without me knowing." He forced a smile at you. "I know you don't trust me, but if you want to know more, I would gladly escort you home and you can ask me questions on the way?"

"I'm on vervain you know, I can't be compelled to let you into my home." You crossed your arms across your chest. You wanted to know more about Stefan, he had completely piqued your interest. "What about if I came to yours? It would be easier to talk sat down rather than walking around the town in the cold?" The words had escaped your mouth before you'd realised what you had said.

"Sure. I'll be here when you finish work." He smiled softly at you. You nodded and returned to work.

"Bye (Y/N)." Matt waved at you before he left the Mystic grill. You approached Stefan, your coat in your arms.

"Shall we go then?" You said pulling on your coat.

"Yeah, let's go." He opened the door for you and you followed him into the dimly lit streets.

Stepping inside the Salvatore mansion, you couldn't help but take in your surroundings. It was truly beautiful. Just the living room was larger than your whole apartment.
"Do you drink?" Stefan broke your thoughts as he poured some bourbon into a glass and offered it to you.

"Sure, yeah." You accepted the glass, Stefan gestured for you to sit down. "Do you live here with your brother then?" You sipped the bourbon. The warmth of the alcohol spread down your gullet and into your chest.

"Yes, he's away with Elena at the moment, his girlfriend." He elaborated for you, knowing you wouldn't really know much about Elena. Stefan sat down facing you. "So, (Y/N) you seem to know quite a bit about vampires?"

"I've know about their existence from a very young age. I've constantly been..." You stop yourself from saying it, you wanted to say how you'd been running from them your whole life but then he'd ask why. "I've constantly been attacked because my family were hunters so I've had no choice but to defend myself." You lie.

"It's understandable, (Y/N). Look, ask me anything and I'll answer it." He tried the change the conversation. You weren't sure if he was trying to be subtle or not, either way, you appreciated the gesture.

"You said you were turned, without knowing?" You ask.

"A woman - vampire named Katherine compelled me to drink her blood, the town found out about the vampires and organised their capture to be put in the church and burned. Damon and I, we tried to save Katherine but our father found us and shot us." He said bluntly. He told you the story of how he and Damon met Katherine and how Damon loved her, he told you about how strict their father was, how their mother died when he was a boy. He told you about Katherine and how she was supposed to be in the church, in the tombs underneath but she had escaped. By the time he had finished telling his tale of before he was turned and how he had been turned it was past midnight. You couldn't believe the time had gone so quickly.

"It's late, I should be going now." You rose to your feet, placing the empty bourbon glass on the side table near the glasses of alcohol.

"I can drive you home if you would like?" Stefan smiled, you nodded. His phone began to ring.
"Hello? What? Are you okay?" Stefan looked concerned. "Are you - are you sure?" There was a light in Stefan's eyes, hope.
"A cure? It exists?" Stefan turned to you, you gulped. 'Shit this is it. He knows I'm the cure'
