Bouquet of Flowers
May I compare you to a bouquet of flowers?
A red camellia you were, a bright red flame in my heart,
I thought you were my primrose, that I could not live without,
But I was only the board that you would use to throw your dart,
More like a marigold, only causing cruelty and grief beyond doubt,
You promised me you were a freesia, someone I could trust,
I always felt forsythia every time I caught a glimpse of you,
But now you’ve betrayed me and treated me like a piece of rust,
That anticipation is now gone, and when I see you I only feel blue,
You called me a calla lily, a beauty is what you said,
To you I was only a nasturtium and with orange mock I was caught,
I didn’t realise I was getting a hyacinth, either pink or red,
Instead I should have been a begonia, beware of the lesson that you taught.
You plead for forgiveness like a purple hyacinth wanting a second chance,
But this time I’m a striped carnation and I will not break my stance.
