I wanted to be a featured poet
I wanted to be a part of the ‘Elite’
I wanted to be recognized for what I had
accomplished
I was met by….
“You don't fit our criteria”
“Your works are sometimes to controversial”
“We don't feel you would be a good representative of the image we want Wattpad to portray”
and my special favourite…
“You simply write to much”
I am not one of the
beautiful people
I am not respected
So I said …
“Fuck it”
fuck the politics
and
bullshit
I deleted everything
I had written
and
started all over again
3 times
more importantly
I changed my
attitude
now I write for
ME
and
the handful of
TRUE FRIENDS
and
FOLLOWERS
that I have
those who take the time and actually
read
what I write
you can have
10,000 followers
but
it will be the same
100 people
who read and comment on what you write
MY POINT ?
simple
write for yourself first
write for those devoted few second
and third ….
write like there is no tomorrow
