I Don't Write for You

I don’t write for you,

I write for me.

I write to vent

when no one will listen

but the paper can’t refuse.

I write to express

the feelings I bury during the day

but come out through my pen.

I write to tell myself

that I’m not alone,

that I am worth something,

that someone’s bound to care.

I write to help myself

better understand who I am

and how I truly feel.

I write for me.

I don’t write for you.
