I saw Brett and a blonde little girl in the middle of the lacrosse field with laser pointers from weapons pointed at their chests in the pouring rain.

"Brett?" the little girl asked. "Brett, what's happening?"

"Close your eyes," Brett told her.

She closed her eyes.

An arrow shot toward them.

I caught the arrow with my right hand, the one with the triskele tattoo on the back. I looked at Brett and the little girl. "Run!"

Brett and the little girl ran away.

I sensed an arrow shooting toward me before I even turned around.

And I heard something metal cutting the arrow in half.

I turned toward Kira. Kira breathed heavily as she looked toward me, the katana raised. "When did you get back?"

"Just now," Kira answered. "How did you know they'd be here?"

"I didn't," I told her. "I never left."

Kira exhaled. I smirked.

The smirk vanished as I looked behind her to the arrow shooting toward her.

I flipped over Kira, landing on the other side. The arrow was about to enter my chest into my heart when I caught it between the palms of my hands.

Kira turned around.

Another arrow shot toward us.

Kira used the katana to destroy it.

Another arrow shot toward us.

I caught it with one hand.

Another arrow shot toward us.

I caught it with the other.

Another arrow shot toward us.

Kira slashed it to pieces.

I slowly stood. Kira held the katana over her head, both of us glaring forward.

We had found more than just Brett and the little girl named Lori.

We had brought them to the clinic.

I had called Scott.

When I heard the front door bell ring, I walked out to the front, seeing Scott.

I walked closer to him, kissing him, pulling him closer.

After a long second, Scott smiled a little as he pulled back. "What was that for?"

"Something I wanted to do earlier but couldn't," I answered. Scott smiled, kissing me this time. After a second, I pulled back, keeping my voice down. "Kira's the only one here that thinks we're still fighting." I raised my voice to normal level. "We're safe."

"Safe from what?" Kira asked as she walked in.

I looked back at her. "The assassins from finding them again. For now."

Scott looked back at her. "Is your mom . . ?"

"She's okay," Kira answered. "Healing."

"What about you two?" Scott asked, looking between us.

"Us?" Kira asked.

"Are you guys okay?" Scott asked.

"Right now?" I asked. "Very." I looked at Kira. "Kira saved me."
