01; Familiar Signs

McKenna

THE BELL to the front door of the popular diner was a familiar sound for most people in Riverdale, especially for sixteen-year-old McKenna King. She was a waitress for POPS Chocklit Shop the diner which was extremely popular within the small town of Riverdale. McKenna was a waitress to help out her older sister with the house bills, her sister was five years older than her and her name was Genevieve. Genevieve was in charge of the house because Genevieve and McKenna's mother left when McKenna was born, their father was killed in a car crash when McKenna was three and Genevieve was eight.

The bell sounds again which caused McKenna to snapped out of her gaze that seemed to be fixated to the pearly clean white counter. She pulled her blue eyes up to the customers which had walked in, the fluorescent lights catch a glimpse of the small green flecks in her eyes.

There stood three people, a short girl with dark pinkish purple highlights that riddled through her light brown waist length hair, she wore a grey spaghetti strap tank top that was covered with a black leather jacket, her short legs were covered by fishnets and a short red and black plaid skirt, she wore heeled leather boots that gave her a little bit more height but she was still short compared to the two guys next to her. The one to her right had a black t-shirt that was covered with a red, white and black plaid shirt that was unbuttoned, to cover both shirts was a similar black leather jacket, he and the other guy had similar black boots. The guy to the girls left was the tallest, he towered over McKenna. He wore a black shirt also but his plaid shirt was black and a dark green, he too wore a black leather jacket but what made him stand out was the mark or tattoo on the left side of his neck but McKenna couldn't see what it was because he had the collar of his leather jacket was popped up.

McKenna held a small but tired smile on her face, her dimples were now visible and her freckles seemed to become more prominent. The short girl held a smile on her face which turned into a smirk. Pops Tate escorted the three people into a both in the middle of the isle next to the window, which was McKenna's personal favorite spot.

"I'll have a waitress over to you soon" Pop smiled his signature smile and walked back to the counter, he tapped the counter in front of McKenna with his palm. McKenna took a deep breath of air and walked towards the small group, she pulled her black notepad from her apron pocket. Her heeled boots carried her to the clean white table, she smiled again as the group of teens stopped talking.

"What can I get you guys?" McKenna asked politely, her slim fingers held a black pen and got ready to write.

"Can I have a chocolate milkshake?" The short girl looked at the waitresses outfit that was slightly hidden by her apron as she spoke. The apron hides a black long sleeve crop top and high waisted light blue jeans.

"I'll have a cheeseburger and a coke," the second guy asked, McKenna nodded her head, her dirty blonde hair which was in a ponytail bounced, her gaze moved to the guy with the tattoo but now McKenna could see what it was; it was a double headed snake. She noticed immediately that the same symbol was patched onto the leather jackets the three looked at.

"I'll take a chocolate milkshake, fries, and your number," the tall guy said, a smirk was plastered on his face causing his chocolate brown eyes to gleam in the fluorescent lights.

"I'll see what I can do for you" McKenna smirked back at the tall guy, she walked away and could feel the three people looking at her as her heeled boots carried her away.

"Pop, two chocolate milkshakes, one coke, cheeseburger and fries," McKenna said as she handed the piece of paper from the notebook to the old man in the back.

"Thank you Kenna" Pop Tate smiled, McKenna grinned at the nickname he called her by.

McKenna sighed as she leaned on her elbows and rested them on the white counter, her chin rested on her hands as she zoned out again, she lifted her head from her hand and pulled out a notebook from underneath the counter, she opened the book and started to sketch. She liked to sketch whenever she wanted to pass time and before she knew it, she was handed the tray that held the group's food she had previously talked to. She lifted it and rested it in the crock of her elbow and balanced it as she walked towards the same table.

As the three teens talked they could hear the same heeled boots coming towards them, the three look up at the girl who had a small smirk on her face. She one by one lifted the drinks off of the tray and set them on the table when she placed the chocolate milkshake in front of the guy with the tattoo she heard his deep voice.

"So what's your name gorgeous?" His voice seemed to echo in her mind.

"McKenna, McKenna King" She replied, the tattoo guys smirk only grew bigger.

"I'm Toni Topaz, this is Fangs Fogarty and that's Sweetpea" the short girl who was now known as Toni Topaz chuckled slightly, Sweetpea seem to be hypnotized by McKenna's beauty, the smirk on his thin lips was still solidified in a smirk.

"Nice to me you guys" McKenna smiled again, her dimples popped again. Toni smiled back but when she looked at Sweetpea she couldn't help but laugh.

"Close your mouth Sweetpea, you don't want to catch flies" Toni giggled causing Fangs to laugh as well but then left Sweet smirking while McKenna had a light blush that could not be seen under the fluorescent lights.

"I'll go get your check" McKenna shyly smiled as she turned to walk away, again she felt the eyes of the teens on her bad.

"Dude she's hot" she heard Fangs says, she couldn't help but giggle and blush slightly.

She walked to the counter and grabbed the small receipt, she pulled her notepad out and wrote down a small message. She smirked as she walked back, she tucked her notepad away and held the receipt and note in her hands.

As she neared the table she could see Sweetpea elbowing Fangs in a joking way. Toni was still giggling and a light tint of pink covered Sweetpea's cheeks.

"Kenna? You can go home now, we aren't busy" Pop yelled from the kitchen, McKenna sigh in relief as she thought she was in trouble.

"Here you go" McKenna placed the check down but then handed the note to Sweetpea, she winked at him as he took it in his significantly larger hands in comparison to McKenna's.

She said goodbye to Toni and Fangs and winked at Sweetpea once again before turning around and walking out the back of the diner to gather her belongings and taking her apron off, she quickly grabbed her notebook from under the counter and stuffed it in her bag before leaving.

Sweetpea

ONCE HE had seen the girl who he now knew her as McKenna walk out of the popular diner he opened the note she had given him. He watched and Toni and Fangs smirk as they waited for their friend to open the note that the beautiful girl had given him.

Sweetpea opened the small piece of paper with his big hands, on the piece, written in very nice handwriting was...

Call me
xxx xxx xxx

Sweetpea couldn't help but smirk at the paper, he quickly tucked the paper in his back pocket before either Fangs or Toni stole it from his grip.

"So, what did it say?" Fangs pried his friend for information, Toni leaned in on her elbows with a quizzed gaze.

"Nothing" Sweetpea brushed it off like it was nothing, Toni shook her head in disbelief.

"I bet it was her number, I mean he did ask for it"  Toni chuckled as she took a sip of her chocolate milkshake.

The three teens chuckled and started to eat, they talked about random things and joked around like they always did but in the back of Sweetpea mind, a thought of a certain blonde haired waitress seemed to linger.
