**I am so so sorry about the massive upload gap, I've been writing a reader x Diaval story**

The people at Woodbury didn't seem so bad. They did their fair share of work, killing at the fences, cooking, hunting for supplies. Daryl was given the responsibility of teaching some of the new residents hunting skills, which he despised. He would always come in later that that day and complain about everything that had happened. You would always here things like "I was inches away from gettin' a wild boar, damn idiot went 'nd stepped on a twig; boar ran for the fuckin' hills." and "Can't train these damn house cats nothin'." He would normally muttered other stuff as he threw himself down on his bed while you bit the inside of your mouth, to stop yourself from laughing.

Your job was a lot easier, 'reading to the kids.' at least, that's what everyone else thought. Not even Daryl knew your little secret.

It was one of those quiet days when Carol approached you with her little proposal.

"(f/n)?" You heard Carols small voice echo through your small shared cell.

"Mmhhm?" You hum, polishing your katana blade with a rag.

"You know how much I trust you, right? How much you mean to me?"

You lower your katana and turn your head do face the cell door way. Carol stood leaning against the wall, eyes closed.

"Where's this going Carol?" You laugh raising your eyebrow sugestively. Carol opens her eyes to look at you, a smirk on her lips.

"You know I'm with Daryl, right?"

"No," carol laughs "it's nothing like that." Carol sits on the bed beside you and smiles.

"Oh? Am I not good enough for you?" You joke, nudging her arm.

You both laugh for a little while before Carol becomes serious again.

"Seriously though, you know I trust you and I need to know if you trust me."

"Of course I do, god you're like a sister to me."

"Right... Okay... Good..."

"So, You gunna tell me what this is about?"

"I've been thinking about those Woodbury kids, they don't know the first thing about survival. My Sophia was like them, she ran and it wasn't enough. I want you to help me teach them without anyone else knowing."

You process the information for a while before sliding your katana into its cover and tossing the rag aside."When do we start?"

Carols smile widens."You'll help me?"

"Of course, I'm thinking during 'library time'. How does that sound?"

"Yes, yes!" She brings you into a hug."Library time," She nods "good cover up."

"Alright. I'll start telling the children about our little library sessions. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks the Woodbury children need educating in the survival department."

(Present day)

Carol shuts the book she is holding before casting it aside.

"Today, we're gonna learn about knives. How to hold them, how to fight with them. How t-"

"Can I please be excused?" Patrick, a boy from Woodbury interrupts "I don't feel too good."

"What if you find yourself out side by yourself? You just gonna give up because you don't feel very well?"

"No, I just dont want to yack on anyone is all."

"Well... alright..."

"Thank you."
