What Is A "Drabble"?

A drabble is a short piece of fiction that is usually less than 200 words. The challenge is to convey something meaningful in a very brief way.

What Do I Write About?

Summer is drawing to a close, so try to reflect this theme in your drabble. All fandoms are welcome for this contest. Keep your drabble to 200 words or less.

Things to Consider

• Pay attention to your grammar and spelling to make sure that your story is understandable and accessible.

• Try to convey feeling and emotion in your story with ample depth and detail.

• Keep your content appropriate for all Wattpadders to enjoy (G, PG, or PG-13).

Submission

To participate, post your entry as a comment on this story part from your Wattpad profile (note: you can still post your submission as a story on your profile in addition to posting a comment). Since this contest is substantially shorter than our past contests, the deadline for submissions is Tuesday August 26th at 11:59 EST. Feel free to give your drabble a creative title, as well as indicate the fandom in brackets - it won't take away from your word limit! Please submit one (1) drabble for this contest.

Dates & Judges

The contest will run for five days, starting today, Friday August 22nd and ending Tuesday August 26th at 11:59 EST. The Wattpad Team will choose ten (10) of our favorite drabbles, and we will announce the winners on Friday August 29th.

To celebrate our favorite entries, the winners of the Contest will receive a shoutout from the Fanfic profile and be mentioned on our social media channels. Winners will have to post their drabble as a story in order for us to add it to an appropriately themed reading list.
