Day

"So, Daniel, who are your teachers this year?" my mother and as we're eating dinner.

"I don't know, I haven't checked my schedule yet."

"OK, Eden, who do you have this year?"

"I think her name is Mrs. Kapar. I heard she's really nice."

Eden is my 10 year old brother, the smartest out of me and John, he loves engineering.

"That's great Eden!" Mom says.

"Mom, when's John coming home?"

"I don't know, Eden, you know he works long shifts at the factory."

"But I want to play with him!"

Suddenly, the phone rings. My mother glares at me. I stare back nervously and walk to the phone.

"Yo bro wha-"

"How many goddy times do I need to tell you not to call me while I'm having dinner!"

"Well, I don't know when you're done with you're dinner."

"You know what, just shut your cakehole Justin (Supernatural reference, anyone?)." I say while hanging up the phone.

"Daniel, the phone bill has been higher ever since you've been friends with that kid Justin," my mom says.

"I know, I'm sorry."Honestly, I don't even like Justin. He's been a horrible to just about everyone he's ever met and is only popular because he's rich. Oh yeah, I guess I forgot to mention that Justin is one of the most popular kids in our school, Wheatley High. The only reason I'm friends with with him is because 1) I'm attractive and 2) I'm funny.

"I'm sorry, it's not that I don't want you to connect with your friends, but-"

"No, it's fine really," I can't stand it anymore. My mom apologizing for something that's not her fault,"I'm going to go to my room for a bit. Just to get my schedule down and everything. "

"OK."

God, why does Justin have to mess everything up. Just as I'm being drowned by my thoughts,I hear a creak through my shared bedroom door. Eden's standing there, looking at me with curious eyes.

"Are you alright?"he asks.

"Yes, I'm fine," I reply.

"You're angry."

"Don't worry about me, kiddo."

"You're angry," he confirms with such firmness that I have nothing to say.

"It's complicated," I end up saying," just let me go to sleep. You should get some sleep too. "

"Alright," Eden says trudging to his bed, "Goodnight"

"Goodnight."
