Kyrielle poem: The land of seasons
The Kyrielle is a French form written in quatrains. Each quatrain contains a repeated line or phrase as a refrain. It has a meter usually composed of eight syllables per line but it can be varied. There is no limit to the number of stanzas, but three is generally the minumum.
I got lost somewhere in my dreams
with green grass growing everywhere
and flowers blooming around me
where leafless trees become alive
The scenery had become fine
as the tropical sun emerged
from nowhere from the cloudless sky
when the dull kids turn cheerful
Walking further, the ambience changed
Golden dead leaves filled the background
twirling leaves were rustling in joy
in a land of raining leaves
Golden background turned deadly white
Frosty snowflakes kissed me slowly
before it turns nasty on me
It's gone, I'm back at where I started
About the poem:
Living the the land of four seasons, one would enjoy the different atmospheres and the scenery. Lacking the chance to live in a seasonal country, writing this poem was definitely a challenge. Nevertheless, it was a pleasure indeed to be able to finish as planned.
