You, you, you!
Always about YOU!
Not me, nor her, or that other engendered pronoun!
Not us, not we, nor them!
Your presence makes an enemy
Of my ease to weave consenants and vowels.
You! So often center-stage, always ready to take a bow!
What happens when poets choose not to use You? Do you punctuate yourself?
Pout? Throw a tantrum? Do you turn blue?
So very hard to not use you, though!
Words cannot be found to express
The challenge to forget you, on purpose.
A bad lover!
How to compose clear thoughts,
When you cannot be employed!
Perhaps my error has been
To try to make art or rhyme
Alone? We were meant to be
Together, after all.
You are more relevant
Than my own ego
would concede.
Please accept my apology
And come back to
Me.
Thank You!

I wrote this in a rough draft a while back. An exercise, really. Nothing more. Just to see what would pop out, by omission of the letter, "I".
I decided to put it on Wattpad because of Cotton Jones' poem, here:

*note: his poem I link above, is part of Atty Awards 2012 Contest. Please be sure to vote! I am sure he'll appreciate it.
