When I was a young girl, my mother read fairy tales to me. I thought that one day, surely my prince would come and he’d sweep me off my feet. But no one told me that tragedies exist and not all stories end with “... they lived happily ever after”.

When I was a young girl, my father warned me about the villains in my picture books. I thought all villains are cloaked in darkness and I could easily avoid them. But no one told me that not all villains exude evil from their skin. Because as I grew up, I learned that it could also be a beautiful boy with a wicked heart.

When I was a young girl, I read about the kiss of true love and how it was the most romantic way to win the girl’s heart. I thought that it would be the most beautiful moment of my life. I believed it would be my fairy tales's ending. But no one told me that a kiss can also be bittersweet and that it can shatter your heart.

Well, now I know the truth.
