"Hey, tell David thanks for the invite." Sophia told Jason shortly, forcing a smile as she pulled her bag over her shoulder.

"Do you want me to drive you back? You've been drinking." Jason raised an eyebrow, that paternal instinct showing through.

"I'm gonna Uber back to my place, thanks though."

"Are you okay? You can tell me whatever's going on. Maybe I can help."

"Don't worry about it. I'll be fine." She mumbled, biting her lip nervously.

"Soph, how'd it go?" Matt asked, walking over to them.

"How'd what go?" Jason wondered, Sophia covering her face and groaning.

"Oh my god, this is a fucking nightmare."

"Oh." Matt said, seeing David and Corinna through the glass door. Jason followed his gaze, putting everything together.

"I'm gonna fucking kill that kid." Jason sighed, pinching his temple.

"Nothing to kill him for. We're just friends," Sophia shook her head, fiddling with the rings on her fingers.

"Anyways, my Uber's here. Goodnight you guys."

Sophia ran down the front steps of the house, hopping into the back of the Uber. She didn't know why she felt so deflated. She had no reason to feel this way. David wasn't hers. He was free to do whatever he wanted, just like she was. Marcie's pep talk had given her the confidence that maybe he liked her back. Clearly that wasn't the case. Corinna went to grab another drink, just in time for Matt and Jason to confront him on the balcony.

"David, what the fuck!" Jason said, smacking David's head with the back of his hand.

"Ow. What the fuck is wrong with you?"

"Me? What happened? You literally told me this morning that you were starting to like Sophia." Jason whisper yelled, crossing his arms.

"She doesn't feel the same way. I'm not wasting my time on that." David practically slurred, rubbing his eyes.

"Oh my god, you're literally a fucking idiot David." Matt laughed heartlessly, shaking his head.

"Don't act like it's not your fault she doesn't like me. I saw the two of you, it was nauseating." David said pointedly, rolling his eyes at Matt.

"You saw the two of us when she was telling me that she had feelings for you, dumb fuck!"

"She what?" David said, his heart sinking as he heard those words.

"And she practically ran out of here when she saw you and Corinna, so I hope it was worth it." Jason sighed, going back inside the house.

"She really said that?" David asked, looking at Matt pleadingly.

"Yeah, she did."

"I can't have her thinking that I'm into Corinna like that. I just saw the two of you and got so fucking jealous. God, I really am dumb as fuck." He sighed, putting his head in his hands.

"You're telling that to the wrong person." Matt muttered, heading back to the party.

David collected his thoughts before walking back in. People were passed out on the chairs and couches, and Jason was grabbing his keys to get out of there.

"Please, drive me to Sophia's. I need to talk to her." David pleaded, grabbing Jason's arm.

"You're drunk. You're gonna look like an even bigger idiot."

"I can't leave things like this."

"I'm doing this for you, David." Jason sighed, pulling his arm out of his grip.

"My car drives itself. I'm going whether you drive or not." David said stubbornly, crossing his arms.

"Fine, I'll fucking drive you to Sophia's."
