Alanna became quick friends with countless people from different backgrounds and types of lives, but found that none of them stayed for long. It felt as if her friendships had an expiration date of around a year, if not sooner. She spent her days inside, wasting her dwindling time, wishing someone would notice how thin she was becoming, and how empty she was inside. She began to feel robotic, as if she was doing the same thing over and over again. She would often think, Maybe robots are better than people.
