why do we women dare stereotype ourselves,
call ourselves strong and formidable and feisty,
able to break society's utopian paragon?but the truth is i am weak and i am weary;
i cannot fight but through words,
and they are as flawed as i am.- - -
just a little explanation for this one: i'm not saying all women are weak and submissive; i'm merely questioning statements which are supposed to 'break stereotypes' that say all women are strong and empowered, but that is, in fact, not true. yes, in films or novels, women are stereotypically portrayed as damsels in distress or housewives, and i agree that this is a stereotype, but isn't it also stereotypical to say that all women are powerful when some women are timid, vulnerable, and not looking for a fight? some women fight through their silence and their endurance. so instead of saying that all women are strong, or all women are weak, it's best to say nothing at all, or completely explain everything. the truth matters. this is reality.
