chaeyoung searched the street as she waited on the sidewalk for mina and junhui. dahyun stood next to her with an arm around chaeyoung's shoulder. she stomped impatiently on the pavement in an attempt to warm up. chaeyoung laughed and copied her movements. the two huddled together like penguins.

chaeyoung heard a familar laugh nearby and seeked its owner. she found mina's face smiling at her, and she couldn't help but smile back. chaeyoung was busy staring at mina and didn't even notice the man next to mina. dahyun waved them over when mina stopped moving.

junhui reached out to shake chaeyoung and dahyun's hands. "hi! it's nice to meet you."

"same, dude. i'm dahyun," dahyun replied, then pointed at him. "it's junhui, right?"

junhui pulled his rejected hand back. "yup!" junhui smiled before turning to chaeyoung. "i assume you're chaeyoung?"

chaeyoung finally realised he was there. "oh! yeah, that would be me. i've heard great things about you."

"no, i totally trash talked you, junhui," mina joked with a laugh.

chaeyoung saw mina's arm intertwined with junhui and did the same with dahyun. "well, should we go in now?"

the other couple nodded as they made their way inside. the restaurant wasn't too fancy, and it wasn't too shabby. it was moderately priced and fit the college students' budgets. there were a few decorations here and there but nothing too extravagant.
it was mostly just candles and vases with flowers in them.

the hostess greeted the four and led them to their table. they were given a booth and sat across from their partner, so junhui and dahyun were able to get to known each other. mina and chaeyoung caught up with each other while they waited for the waiter. dahyun attempted to pay attention to junhui but couldn't help but notice how close mina and chaeyoung were. it only took her a few moments to turn back to junhui.

the waiter arrived with his hands full of menus. he distributed them to the group while giving a polite smile. the waiter took the group's drink order. he bowed before leaving them to look at the menu.

chaeyoung thumbed through the menu and glanced at mina every once in a while. "what are you thinking about getting?"

mina dismissed her question with wave. "oh, nothing special. i'll probably just get something basic."

chaeyoung nodded before turning to other side of the booth. "what about you guys?"

one by one, the others explained what they were going to order. chaeyoung let her mind wander as they talked, nodding every once and a while. she thought about dahyun and how she wanted to sit next to her girlfriend. chaeyoung knew how dahyun got sometimes and knew she would prefer chaeyoung to sit with her and not mina. chaeyoung was different now; she really did want whatever was best for their relationship.

the waiter soon came with a tray full of their drinks and set the drinks on the table. he pulled out his notepad and pen and took the group's orders, writing them down as he recieted them. the waiter collected the menus and then bowed politely. he left with the promise of refilling their drinks when they needed it.

the group began to make small talk. it was the usual questions, asking what they were studying, what their family was like, and things like that. chaeyoung and dahyun learned that junhui came from a rich family. his father is the ceo of a car company, and his mother is a professor at a top university. even his siblings are successful. his older sister owns a small chain of cafes, and his younger brother has an internship at a hospital.

"you know what we didn't do, mina?" chaeyoung asked, changing the subject.

"what?" mina asked, turning to face chaeyoung.
