Sitting still on the edge of the couch, my heart beat pumped rapidly behind my chest.

So many thoughts rummaged through my mind.
What if they found that body? What was going to happen to us?

I could get taken away for something I didn't even do.

I should have just took my butt home.

I didn't want to go to jail. I'm not built for that.

I'd be in there with real criminals!

No, they can't find that body.

I bounced my leg nervously as seconds felt like minutes.

I felt a hand press down on my knee.

I stopped bouncing my leg and looked over to see Jacob giving me a look.

"I can't go to jail!" I whined.

"Shh!" He quickly hushed me, placing his hand over my mouth. "Act fucking normal."

I was on the very verge of tears. I couldn't act normal knowing there was a dead body in here, that I helped hide.

"I'm trying." I whispered.

After a few long minutes, footsteps were heard.

Jacob stood up as the officers joined us back in the living room.

"Everything ok?" Jacob frowned, pretending to be worried.

I don't see how he's faking it so well, I'd be stuttering.

"Yeah. We didn't see anything unusual." One of the men said.

He glanced over at me and I quickly looked down at my hands.

"Are you sure you didn't hear or see anything weird?"

Jacob shook his head. "No sir. We were just chilling, watching tv. That's about it."

It was silent or a few seconds.

"Alright well, make sure you guys lock the doors up and stay aware of your surroundings alright? Don't hesitate to call the authorities if anything happens."

Jacob nodded as the officers headed towards the door.

I watched with my palms sweating.
God knows how scared I was right now. I've never felt my heart beat this fast.
