Dear Mother,
By now you may have realized that I am gone, but just in case, I have left this note here on the bed for you. I always knew that you hated Arbany, so I decided to keep our marriage a secret. He's not a 'nasty creature' like you always called him, and I believe that he may have some redeeming qualities. I hope our relationship as mother and daughter isn't ruined by our elopement, and that we will be able to meet together soon.
