This year, I took a creative writing course at my university for which I drafted a poetry collection titled New Flesh. These are the poems that did not make the cut. Much of writing poetry is trial and error. You cannot have a good poem without also having written at least five mediocre ones. And so, although these poems are not my best work they are still important. They are the structure underpinning my latest collection, the "bones beneath" the "new flesh", as it were.
