Don’t Talk to me of Second Love
Cos Second Love is Silence
Stars slip into their slender sphere
Of amniotic light
Far from the explosion that birthed here
A blinding screaming sight
Don’t Talk to me of Second Love
Cos Second Love is Silence
Fires that brought Xanthos to the boil
And burned Ilium down
Are ashes tumbling to the soil
Fertilising what is sown
Don’t Talk to me of Second Love
Cos Second Love is Silence
Now stars and embers fall to dust
And I feel your fleshy
Warm heart-twitch peel and rust:
Nothing is so messy
Don’t Talk to me of Second Love
Cos Second Love is Silence.
