TMZ EXCLUSIVE: Trey Songz off the hook for domestic violence case, judge approves bail in Lovato case

Aiden was curled into her side as she read the headline on the bright screen of her iPhone, numbly scrolling down the page and skimming through the article, her eyes catching onto the details that caused Andrea's case to be dismissed. Eye witness testimony. Faulty story. Character assassination. One million dollar bail approved. Out in the morning.

Demi locked her phone and placed it by her side, releasing a deep breath as she fixed the covers over her and Aiden and closed her eyes, trying to get some sleep but knowing that her attempts at sleep were useless. Max was here. Her parents were in the guest room down the hall. Drake had sent two extra bodyguards to be posted outside of her house. A new security system with cameras had been installed. A gate was being built around her property. Her restraining order against Trey had just been approved. Her house was Trey proof. He couldn't get in. He couldn't get to them. He couldn't hurt her or her son. But for some reason, fear still plagued her mind. And she thought it was over. She thought she was done living in fear. Would it ever be over?

The sun was rising when Lani heard three knocks at Demi's door. Anyone who wasn't approved by Demi couldn't even get past the gates because of the security guards so she wasn't that scared to open the door. She was just surprised to see Drake standing there.

"Morning...?" Lani greeted as Drake walked into the house, running his fingers over the smooth waves in his hair, and that's when she noticed his bloody knuckles.

"Woah, what happened?" Lani asked, taking his hands and leading him into the kitchen where Demi kept a first aid kit in one of the drawers by the stove. She pulled it out and examined his knuckles as he shook his head.

"Trey got out this morning..." Drake trailed off.

That was all that Lani needed to know. Drake was quiet but with the way he had been brooding whenever Demi wasn't around and the way his eyes narrowed everytime he heard Trey's name, she knew it was only a matter of time before he did something.

"I was friends with him. I didn't do anything. I should've done more. I should've protected her, I should've done something...SOMETHING," he ranted as Lani dabbed at his knuckles with a cotton pad covered in alcohol.

"What could you have done? Demi didn't want our help. It's hard to accept but I grew up with her, I know how she grew up, and even though it frustrated me and I wanted to walk away so many times, I didn't because I understand why she put up with it for so long. It's not right, it'll never be right, but Demi had to realize for herself that she didn't deserve to be treated how she was. She had to walk away by herself. No one could do it for her," Lani said as she wrapped his knuckles up, but Drake was just feeling even more confused than before.

"What does how she grew up have to do with any of this?" He asked as Lani stuffed the first aid kit back into the drawer then turned to face him.

"Eddie isn't Demi's real father. That's all I'm going to say. If she wants you to know anything else, she'll have to tell you herself." Lani finished their conversation just as Demi slowly came down the stairs, rubbing at her healing eye as she released a wide yawn. Once she saw her two best friends standing in her kitchen she shot them a warm smile before limping over to the refrigerator.

"You guys are here early. Are you guys both staying on shift today?" Demi asked as she took out a carton of eggs along with the milk as Lani rolled her eyes.

"We're not babysitting we're trying to support you!"

"I'm just joking, calm down," Demi nonchalantly replied as she continued to take our stuff to make breakfast for everybody. Since they were around the clock babysitting her, the least she could do was make them breakfast.
