"Don't You Dare"

A poem inspired by Cassandra Clare's City of Ashes, the scene with Clary and Simon Lewis.

I keep thinking that fate weren't on our side

We've faced too many choices to sacrifice

And when I realized I can't let you go

I held you tight, closer than anyone has ever known

If it's possible I'll beg you to stay

Because I can't bear watching me lose you this way

I'll remember that gentle noon in your arms for the last time

It never came to me you're leaving much too soon

I never saw you more than my best friend

Yet you were always there beside me in the end

Have you forgotten we made a pact?

For the rest of our mundane life that we'll remain together

Fighting till the last fight

We're warriors to the enemies

We do no run away so why

Tell me why are you running away from me?

Don't you dare let go

Don't you dare leave me alone

Tomorrow's coming, everything be changing

Stay with me once more
