You spoke of sunlight last night

I could only watch; only listen

Your movements were grand, you moved

with grace and you spoke with an

excitement I haven't seen since

"ever after",

the promise we made

Do you remember it?

Now we're just two crumpled papers,

the words don't mean anything

to any of us anymore

You asked me, "what's the point of picking up the pieces?"

and I told you that you could fix something that

was once broken and you stared

at the wall for what seemed like hours but really was

just minutes and then looked at me with

tight lips and said,

"what if I don't want to anymore?"

You don't have to,

if you don't want to

It could be nice to be fixed, but I understand

I had a nice ever after, even if it didn't last ever after
