How the Rain

A shift in the breeze,
A cool caress of the air,
The clouds a'head gather,
Rain beginning to fall.

Drops descend,
Warm ground dampened just so
A calming patter on the tin roof,
Leaves tap dancing through the night.

A glint of sunshine
Peaks through the morning of gray clouds
In a moment,
All is right.

A quiet stillness,
The drops turned now to mist.
The world cleansed and renewed.

The sun in its gentleness
Glows softly through the mist
Colors brightly beaming
Life in its balance.
