before every cross country meet
we had i would by a huge bag
of jolly ranchers
using the candy as bait
for you to sit next to me
on the bus.
it’s kind of pathetic how
i was too shy to ask you
to sit next to me and had to
result in candy to get my way
but you didn’t seem to pay
much attention to my
pull since you just
popped rancher after rancher
into your mouth.
