The morning sun crept through the blinds like a flood of light. Though, it was a light she could not behold. She could not see it's beauty. Could only feel its blanketing warmth. Yes, everything in the world was perfectly normal. For her. Anna yawned and rolled over in her bed. Better to keep her eyes closed than to be blind to the world.

Her mind drifted to thoughts of Nathan. He sounded sweet. His voice like silk, and the way he smelled. Like the beach. His aura felt safe. And his hand was gentle when he grabbed her arm.

She sighed, she had to go to work. What was her job? An author. Her keyboard was in braille, so it was easier for her.

Easy. She never liked easy. Easy meant sympathy, and she HATED that. She was blind. She had a metal leg. And she never gained weight. That's that. No sympathy allowed.

A reminder came on her computer: Doctor's appointment today."

-'Crap.' she thought. 'completely forgot about that.'

She got her coat, and left for the medical office.
