Footsteps
Footsteps in the sand.
Small feet and large feet
Wide feet and narrow feet
All going the same direction
Where the water touches
the sand
The shoreline,
Where the water turns frothy
And the wave ends.
Should she follow?
She could follow the footsteps
Everyone's footsteps and be like them.
Or: she could turn back,
Her footsteps opposite of theirs.
She could be different;
Never change, never confront
Her fears.
Should she follow?
