At 5:15 in the morning the bell would ring to wake us. We had fifteen minutes to get washed and dressed. At 5:30 we had to be
down in the chapel for morning prayers.
This consisted of reciting certain sections of the Psalms. One group would read about
three verses, then the other half would read
three verses. At 5:45 we would go back to
our bedrooms. And return for the Mass would be over about 6:30. I returned with Joan to the kitchen to
prepare breakfast for everyone. As we cooked, i thought of how life would be if I had a husband. Well, by 8:30 a.m we were done with breakfast. I took a shower, said a prayer for my cousin Tim who had a hard time studying. I prayed for enlightenment. Soon it was time for silence at 10:00 a.m. And this was a time I cherished. A time to reflect. I decided to study the story of Ruth. An old tale I barely hear in the pulpit. After about two hours, i began to feel the need for a nap. I had taken vows of poverty and not vows of self deprivation. I went out of the study and entered my well ventilated quarters. I walked to the balcony over looking the lake. As I spent about five minutes staring at the old lake I recalled the story about the lake. The reason why no life form visits it. The reason why it is avoided. That is a story, a story for another day.
