I walked into school with the intention of nobody knowing it was my birthday. But, of course, being the popular girl, everyone knew.
"Amanda!" Lori bellowed down the hallway. She caught up to me with a cupcake in her hand. She then sang the "Happy Birthday" song then handed the cupcake to me. "Thanks," I said. I stuffed the cupcake into my handbag. She scrunched up her face, as if with disappoint, and speed walked away. I sighed and went to class.
