Carmela’s POV

A couple of minutes passed ever since class started. On our schedule, we’re all ten. Four girls and six boys. I was sat on the middle, Adie and—a new friend we met earlier—Paige sitting on both my sides. All of us were each holding a guitar, waiting for Luke to finish writing on a white board. He was writing some basic chords for us to learn. It was quiet, except for the tapping coming from the white board marker. I looked around our room; the walls were painted black and the floor was carpeted with red. There were guitar posters hung everywhere. It was an okay room. I might get used to this place after a week or so.

“Okay so, we’ll start with the G chord. Are all of you familiar with it?” he asked as he clasped his arms together and looked around the room. I couldn’t stop staring at his eyes. They looked wonderful. And the way his lips moved when he talks. I wonder what it feels to kiss those lips.

I was snapped back to reality when his eyes met mine. “No one? Okay then, let me show you.”

He grabbed an old-looking guitar and placed his hand on a fret. It was some chord I don’t know. “This, this is the G chord. Here, just follow these steps on the picture and if you’re having trouble doing it, call me.”

I looked down at my guitar and struggled to follow the steps. They were a tad bit hard. But successfully, I got it. Except that my fingers always encloses back making me lose my temper.

“Damn you you little shit. Work it.” I whispered to myself. I nearly jumped when I heard someone chuckle behind me.

“Be patient, love. Your hand will be used to it soon.” It was Luke. He was smiling down at me and I couldn’t help but smile back. It’s a good thing I’m looking down or else he’ll notice how red my cheeks are.

Well that was embarrassing.

Luke’s POV

An hour already passed and it was time to end the class. I stood up and got everyone’s attention.

“Okay class, practice the G, E, C, and D chords at your house and by tomorrow I’ll see if you all got it right. See you all tomorrow!”

They all stood up from their seats and packed up their things. Some were talking with each other, some were just quiet. It made me excited and overwhelmed how by the end of summer they’re going to be really good at playing the guitar because they entered summer class. And who knows? These students of mine might notice me one day when summer ends and would walk up to me. I smiled at the thought. I decided I’d invite Ashton for lunch and get to know him better. And might as well meet the other instructors of this school.

I started packing up my things when I noticed that Carmela and Adie were still on their seats, talking and fixing their things.

“Ladies?” I called. They both looked up and I felt my eyes went wide when I noticed how they both really look alike.

“Are you sure you’re not twins?” I asked and they both laughed.

“Yep, we’re pretty sure about that. We both look alike don’t we?” Adie said and I chuckled followed by a nod. They continued packing up until Ashton came inside holding two drumsticks.

“Hey Luke. And hello there, Luke’s students.” Ashton greeted with a smug smile spread across his lips. I couldn’t help but laugh and roll my eyes at him.

“Girls, this is Ashton. The drum teacher.”

After the little meet-and-greet, Carmela and Adie said goodbye and we all left our separate ways. Ashton and I were off to meet Michael and Calum—the other two instructors.

“So how was your first day of class?” I asked.

He chuckled and shrugged. “It was okay. The students are great.” I smiled and nodded. We arrived at another room where two guys were talking.

“Hey,” Ashton called. “Is there room for one more instructor?” he asked referring to me. The two lads looked at me and smiled.

“We could really use another friend with us. Wanna join us for some lunch? I’m Calum by the way.” One guy said as he approached me and had his hand out for a handshake. He has dark hair and squinty eyes. He looks like somewhat an Asian guy. But his accent is far from that.

I smiled and completed the handshake. “That’d be great. I’m Luke. Luke Hemmings.”

“And I’m Michael.” Another one said. After the little chat, Ashton decided we’d go for lunch somewhere. We left the building and drove off to Twenty 8 Acres. It was Michael’s idea we’d eat there and said he was treating us. The car erupted in cheers. It was a fifteen-minute drive from the building so we spent the next fifteen minutes talking and getting to know each other.

…fifteen minutes later…

“We’re here!” Calum exclaimed as he stopped the car. The four of us hopped out of the car and went inside. It was a bit crowded but Ash found a table good for the four of us. I was sat next to Michael while Ash and Calum sat across us. A waiter then walked up to us and handed our menu.

“So what do you lads want?” Calum asked. Michael was still choosing and Ash was already talking to the waiter about his order.

“I’ll go with anything, really.” I replied. Calum faced me with his brows raised up.

“Are you sure?”

“Yep, I’m sure.”

“Alright then.”

As Calum and Ashton ordered, Michael was talking to me about some hot student from his class earlier. I laughed as I continued to listen. He said she was a tad bit taller than him, has straight blonde hair and green eyes. As I listened, my eyes were wandering around the restaurant. A lot of people were talking and eating with serious faces wearing suit and tie. They looked like business men on their lunch break. Some were talking and eating with smiles on their faces, looking relaxed and perplexed. That’s when I caught my eye on a familiar girl. I squinted my eyes to see clearly and saw that it was Carmela, eating and talking with Adie and an older woman who looks a lot like Carmela. My eyes widened and my heart skipped a beat. Then I feel funny. My hands were shaking, my heart was beating abnormally fast and then I feel hot—like the walls of this place were enclosing and air was running out.

“Hey Luke, check it out. That cute girl is staring at you. Wait, no. Oh god, Luke she’s smiling over here.” Michael muttered and saw that he was pointing over at Carmela. She was staring at our direction, and then she caught my eye. She quickly looked away and looked down. I must say, she looks cute when she does that.

Well what a coincidence, they’re here.
