Kajal, Manish we’ve got to tell you something’, I said as we
gathered in school on the next day.
‘We are committed!’, Megha exclaimed with joy before I could open
my mouth to say anything.
‘What? WTF?’, Kajal exploded with the filthiest words one can ever
use.
‘Mogambo, what?’ Manish yelled and went into the boys-talk
character with a broad smile as he had won an Oscar for his abusive
words.
‘Yeah’, I said tackling the punches from both of them. Kajal looked
flushed. She was sad. She liked me but her best friend stole me. Her
expressions clearly told what she was going through. It was her fault
that she fell for me. It was not my fault that I fell for her best friend
and not for her. Although I didn’t know why I actually fell for
Megha?
‘Well, I am happy for you guys. All the best and stay blessed’, Kajal
said in a dead voice, blessing us like she was our mother.
Of course, pasting this dialogue is the best way to run away from a
situation like this and Kajal was none of the exception and did the
same. Manish didn’t get the time to say anything as he was busy in
finalizing the time and venue for party in the evening for
celebration. Boys are always easy. They handle things in a manner
no one can even think of, unlike Kajal who seemed depressed.

‘Let’s go to the class now. It’s too hot here’, Megha said making a
ceiling with her hand over her eyes to tackle the bright sunlight. It
was our games period and most of the children were playing in the
sun which was about to melt them. The way they were playing
indicated that their mothers must have fitted air-conditioners in
their body.
‘Okay’, I said.
We reached the stairs and the bell rang. She grabbed my left hand,
pulled me towards her and wrapped her arms around me. Her
embrace was warm and her short soft hands seemed very protective
when she wrapped them around my body. The world around me
melted away as I squeezed her back, not wanting the moment to
end.
‘I love you so very much idiot’, she whispered.
‘I love you too’, I replied and I got a slap on the back of my head as a
reward.
‘More’, she emphasized.
‘Oh! Sorry. I love you more’, I grinned.
‘Wow! The most beautiful lady of the school and the Casanova
Imran hugged in front of my eyes. This should be recorded in
history’ a voice came as we got separated from our love sprinkling
hug. It was Ria, our classmate.
‘Ria listen, we were just…..’, I muttered
‘Ahh! Never mind Imran, I knew something was cooking in between
you guys. But hey, you guys make a perfect couple. Trust me.’, she
said and went to the class winking at both of us.
Megha and I looked at each other for some time and then burst out
in laughter. Our first hug became the most embarrassing hug of our
life.
The news of our relationship spread in the school faster than the
speed of light. The two most famous faces of the school were
together in a relation, it was no less than a breaking news. The
students, teachers, our headmaster, the receptionist and even the
peons got to know about us. They started to pass a smile whenever I
or Megha crossed them.

‘Imran, go and sit in the next row’, the bio teacher ordered me.
‘Me? But why?’, I asked
‘Go, I said’
I went to the next row leaving my love and sat with Gauri. She was
too like a best friend to me.
‘Hehehe!! Poor guy’, she giggled. Girls have a tendency to open their
bank of depressing words when they see an innocent creature like
me in trouble. Was I innocent? Really?
‘Shut up! geeko’, I said. Everyone used to call her geeko as she was
the most intelligent student of class.
‘So, how is it going?’, Geeko asked. Girls can never shut their mouth
no matter what the situation is. They always have a topic on which
they can talk until they die.
‘Pretty well’
‘Yeah! I can see the happiness on both the faces’
‘Really?’ I turned to my so called geeko making my eyes shrink to
give the expression she hated the most.
‘Don’t give me that look Imran’, Gauri whispered and I got hit by a
piece of paper. I opened the paper.
‘Missing you’. It was her handwriting. Megha threw that paper.
Neither I replied nor I looked at her because the teacher was
constantly watching only me in a class of 24 students. The class got
over and so did the conversation with Gauri. I left the class with
Gauri.
‘Hey you, Mr. Casanova’, Megha yelled putting her hands on her
hips with fire in her eyes. She was lacking horns on her head to be a
monster. Hands-on-hips always means danger sign.
‘Hmm…say?’, I replied as if nothing had happened. Although I knew
that I made two mistakes. First, not giving her a reply and second,
leaving the class without her.
‘You know how much I love you that’s why you do like this, right?’
she cried like a three year old baby whose mom has left him alone in
his home and went out for shopping.
That line along with the way it was expressed, made my heart melt.
She was looking gorgeous. The flawless beauty of her face defined
the real meaning of being beautiful. Her big brown eyes screamed
for love.
‘I am sorry baby’, I said as I was the only innocent person on this
goddamn planet. If she could act like a three year old child then I
could also act like a baby who has just opened his eyes in this cruel
world.
‘Now don’t say sorry or else I’ll hit you hard’, she said holding my
face in her delicate hands with her long fingers. We smiled and
headed to our class.
‘See you at the gate now’, she said packing her bag and checking if
she left anything in the class as it was the last period and we had to
go in different classes for our optional subjects.
‘Yeah sure’, I smiled and we both left the class.
‘Hi! Mr. Casanova, you are 10 minutes late for the class’, Kajal
yelled. The teacher was late, so no one in the class was on their
respective place.
‘I am taken Kajal. No more Casanova now’, I mocked.
‘Whatever! By the way where is Manish?’
‘Ohhooo! Miss Kajal is asking for Manish? Something is fishy babe’,
I teased her
‘Shut up Imran. I want my notebook back from him that’s why I am
asking’, she said annoyingly.
‘He likes you Kajal and I thought you too like him’, I grinned. It was
really fun teasing her.
‘My foot. You know very well the person I like’, she said and struck
her eyes on me giving me a cold look.
‘Listen Kajal, I know I came between you and your best friend and I
really didn’t know that I will fall for Megha but I couldn’t do
anything. It just happened.’
‘I understand. Shit happens’, she said holding my hand.
‘Okay, I can keep you as backup. What say?’, I tried to make it
funny.
‘Sure’ she said and stumped my head with her book. We laughed till
our bellies gave us the indication that they have pain receptors too.
