Writer speaking
FYI: This is my first story so be prepared for some bad editing, writing, etc...
I have absolutely no experience. So be prepared. This is my cryptic message for the day.
The pic is of Lucy at 6.
10 years before
"Mommy, where are we going?" a very young, 6 year old, Lucy asked.
"It's a surprise!" Carol spoke, adding just enough happiness to be believable. Truthfully though it would be one of the worst things, angelic like Lucy would ever experience. Carol felt quite bad about what she about to do, or hoped she would after the whole ordeal was over. Carol looked in the rear view mirror to make sure that there was no on the road, to see her do what she was about to do.
All the while Carol had been driving Lucy had sat in the back not making a noise, except when she had told her mother she needed to use the bathroom, and to ask where they were going. Lucy was a very quiet, sweet child. She did as she was told when she was told, never complaining, and certainly not whining. Lucy knew her mother had enough on her plate without having to deal with Lucy to.
"We're going to stop for a little bit and stretch our legs. We might even play hide and go seek," Carol said.
That infernal game was what her mother had tried, unsuccessfully might I add, to make up for the days upon days where she was home alone. For not making Lucy dinner, ever, except before Lucy was three. Lucy didn't mind very much, though or she tried very hard not to.
When they both got out of the car Carol spoke "Why don't you run along and hide, I'll stay here to count."
As Lucy ran off and hid in a knothole at the bottom on one the trees as Carol drove off at dusk leaving young Lucy to fend for herself all alone in the deep dark night. Then suddenly with no warning it began raining, making Lucy run further and further into the woods.
