You can't heal what you don't reveal

Atlantic Records had two core rules that were embedded into the 563-page contract that they made every artist sign, basically binding you and your soul in for 5+ years in which you were their money-making machine, and Atlantic Records didn't believe in repairs. If you weren't working correctly, if you weren't producing results, or if you were simply broken, you had to go, and you were immediately replaced with a shiny, new machine.

In his 12 years of experience with Atlantic, they seemed to loath two things: cancellations and scandals. If you cancelled anything, it was automatically a $50k fine along with a six-month delay in whatever music related project you're working on at the time. The fee for a scandal varied based on how bad the scandal was, but the penalty for that was always a temporary suspension while the label decided if you were worth all of the bad press or not.

Now here Trey was about to break at least one of those rules. Good thing he had made a reasonable amount of money over the past twelve years. He wasn't sure if his girlfriend's house getting broken into counted as a scandal but knowing them, they would try to make it seem like one. At this point, Trey didn't care. He had a one-track mind right now. All he cared about was Demi.

"Cancel it all," Trey bluntly stated, causing his manager to rub the space in between his eyebrows once he took in the looks on the faces of the label executives. Trey hadn't been in a room with all of these assholes in custom fitted suits since he let them listen to his last album.

"Excuse me?" The only woman in the room Marsha Fredericks spoke up. Since she was the only woman on the board she always talked the most in meetings because she was always trying to prove that she belonged there. Trey could empathize with her but sometimes he wished that she would just keep her mouth shut.

"What Trey means is that his girlfriend has just undergone an extremely traumatic experience and he'd like to push back the European leg of his tour for just a little bit," Corey said, lightly kicking Trey in the shin as he tried to calm the label executives down.

"So, nothing happened to you? This is about your girlfriend that we've been telling you to get rid of since you started dating her?"

Oh yeah. His record label hated Demi. The main reason was because when she was switching labels and managers they had offered her a contract with them but she turned them away to go to one of their main competitors: Island Records. Now Demi was an international sensation and they weren't reaping the benefits. The other reason was because they said she didn't go with his image. They had been advertising him as a playboy since his debut in 2005 so him being tied down to one girl wasn't exactly helping with his album sales.

"You want to postpone an entire tour and cancel your BET performance, which is next weekend by the way, because your girlfriend had someone to break into her house?" Marsha asked, causing Trey to roll his eyes towards the ceiling. Was he speaking in Hebrew?
