It was the day before Joan and Jimmy's wedding. They were having a small party with the whole family.
The kids were getting restless and wanted to play hide and seek.
Jimmy was it and the other's, including Joan, went to hide. Joan found an excellent hiding spot in the attic. There was a big heavy trunk in the corner, sitting under an old wooden shelf.
Joan lifted the lid and climbed in, giggling with excitement.
Jimmy had found all of the children but couldn't find Joan anywhere. After many hours he gave up. He was extremely angry as he suspected his wife-to-be had gottten cold feet and ran away.
After a few years, Jimmy decided to move out of his current house. He had found a new bride and they happily got married.
As Jimmy was clearing out the attic, he spotted a clutter in the corner. There was a heavy shelf, along with many other heavy items, collapsed onto a large trunk. He cleared the space and lifted of the lid of the old trunk. Jimmy was completely horrified when he saw the decaying body of his early wife-to-be.
It turned out, when Joan had closed the trunk lid, it came down heavily, causing the shelf and the other items to clash onto the lid. Joan couldn't get out of the trunk and sadly died a cruel and slow death.
