Chapter Eighteen : Will You Take Me Back?

Josh's POV

I ran all the way to Vanessa's house.

I looked in her driveway.

No cars.

Her parents must not be home.

Perfect.

I walked up to the front door.

I stood there for a moment to catch my breath.

Then I put my finger on the doorbell.

I hesitated to press it but did it anyway.

I could hear someone coming downstairs.

It must be Vanessa.

The door opened.

And I saw her.

I saw Vanessa for the first time in two weeks.

She looked a mess.

A beautiful mess though.

Her hair was tied up.

Her face was drained.

Like she'd been crying all day.

She wore a baggy shirt and sweatpants.

She stared at me.

I could see the anger in her eyes.

It hurt to see her angry at me.

But who could blame her.

I'm just one big jerk.

"Go away, Josh" She said.

"Wait can we talk" I said.

She rolled eyes.

"Talk about what Josh? I remember you making it pretty clear you wanted nothing to do with me" She said.

I sighed.

"I was being stupid when I said that" I said.

She laughed sarcastically.

"Not the first time you've acted stupid" She said.

She's being stubborn.

I hate it.

And that was actually pretty insulting.

"Vanessa, just please I just want to talk" I said.

She sighed and let me in.

We walked up to her room.

She closed her bedroom door and we sat on her bed.

"Talk" She said while turning to me.

I sighed and looked down.

Her hands were on the bed.

They were close to mine.

I just wanted to grab them and never let go.

"I'm sorry" I said.

She looked at me confused.

She's so adorable.

"What for?" She asked.

I chuckled.

"For so many things, not trusting you, not letting you explain your side, yelling at you like a crazy man. I truly am sorry Vanessa" I said.

I saw her smile coming but she looked down so I wouldn't see.

"Why now?" She asked while looking down.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

She looked up at me.

I looked into her eyes.

Her beautiful brown eyes.

"Why are you apologizing now?" She asked.

I thought back to Lisa and our nice little talk.

And how she slapped me.

I realized that I actually did deserve that slap from her.

I acted like one big jerk.

"Lisa told me all about the play and how you and Matthew were just practicing for it" I said.

"Yea I could have been the one to tell you that but you wouldn't listen" She said.

She's right.

I wouldn't listen.

I just automatically assumed she was cheating.

"I know and I'm truly sorry for that" I said.

She smiled.

I finally got that smile back.

I smiled back at her.

Then she pushed me and pinned me on the bed.

She got on top of me and started punching me on my chest. 

And let me tell you these weren't light punches.

She hits really hard for a girl.

No that's not right.

She hits hard for Vanessa.

I mean she's so small how do her punches hurt this bad.

Tears fell from her eyes as she kept hitting me.

What's going on.

Everything was fine just a second ago.

We were smiling and everything.

She stopped hitting me and wiped her tears.

"You have no idea how much you hurt me, Josh" She said.

She looks so broken and I just want to fix her.

I sighed and put my arms around her and brought her into a hug.

She laid her head on my chest and kept crying.

I rubbed her back.

"Please don't cry If you cry I'll cry" I said.

It's the truth.

Seeing her like this just makes me want to break down and cry with her.

She looked up at me with tears in her eyes.

"I love you don't ever doubt that" She said.

I smiled.

"I promise I won't doubt you ever again, I love you too" I said.

She smiled and laid her head back on my chest.

I loved having her back in my arms.

I held her tight.

And now I'm never letting her go.

"I'll always love you, Vanessa" I whispered.

"And I'll always love you, Josh" She whispered back.

Then we both fell asleep in each others arms.
