Rhys's P.O.V:

I don't know how long it has been, but it felt like eternity since I was left bleeding and chained to the dungeon walls. Zyane had tried to make small talk with me but I made it very clear that it was because of his mate that we're even in this hell hole.

I haven't told him that the white haired women was my potential mate. I haven't confirmed it with her yet, so I wasn't even sure if she felt the bond at all. It felt so ironic thinking that not even a week ago, I was the one being lectured about finding my potential mate and settling down for the stability of the pack. And now, Karma the Bitch has bit me in the ass with all her might and my mate just turned out to be the potentially violent Alpha that Aiden and Devon were after.

As promised, no food or water had arrived and I was pretty sure I was ready to drink my own blood like a goddamned vampire to quench my thirst...only if I could reach any part of my body.

The silver bullet in my shoulder kept the wound from healing and it hurt like a bitch. Every time I tried to move or even flex my arms, the wound would start hurting like fucking crazy. It hurt too damn much, but the betrayal hurt even more. But most of all, it hurts to think why the hell did I feel betrayed in the first place.

Mikalya's P.O.V:

I was woken from my short slumber by a crash outside my door.

Sighing, I threw back my blanket and rose from my bed wearing a full sleeve green sweater and black cargo pants. I already knew what was happening outside the door, there was no need to hurry.

After pulling my long silver hair into a messy bun, I opened the door to my room just in time to witness Aya jab her first into a male wolf's, breaking his nose. The male, Tushaar, fell back onto the floor and clutched his nose in a vain attempt to stop the blood flow. His lips were pulled back from his teeth in a snarl and Aya snarled right back at Tushaar, urging him to get back up on his feet and fight. I was impressed; Tushaar had good skills to be able to keep up with Aya. The boy was four years her junior after all and just as restless as any wolf juvenile was supposed to be at his age.

"Don't get blood on the carpet," I warned the children.

Aya looked up at me with a smirk. "Too late," she indicated towards a dark patch forming on the red carpet of the hallway as blood gushed out of the boys broken nose. I sighed.

"You," I pointed at Tushaar. "Go to the infirmary and get that checked this instant. And you," I turned to Aya. "Clean up your mess."

"What!" Aya cried in horror while Tushaar gave a half snort, which only earned him a glare and another kick in the butt. "Why do I need to clean up? It was his fault." Aya wined after the boy had taken the opportunity to run for the hills.

"You broke his nose." I pointed out matter of factly.

"Well, he shouldn't have challenged me!" Aya huffed.

"He's thirteen." I told her. "And boys his age are bound to be reckless and stupid. You're seventeen. You should have known better by now."

"I can't help it," Aya ground out with her arms crossed over her chest. "I was feeling punchy."

"What's got you so on edge?" I asked as I went back inside to sit on my bed and Aya followed me into my room to take a seat at the edge of my bed.

"That guy with the Alpha!" Aya gritted out. "I don't know why but my wolf has been all snappy ever since I saw him."

"Ah!" I nodded in understanding. Aya had found her mate. And it pissed me the fuck off that she had found one. Aya was too young, hardly seventeen years old; she didn't need to deal with the troubles that came with a mate, not yet. And if I had anything to do about it, she wouldn't have to deal with mate shit for a very long time.

I debated on whether or not I should tell her the truth before deciding against it. Aya was too young, so much so that she hasn't transformed into her wolf yet. There was still time. But my wolf wasn't all that pleased either. It had sensed the mating bond between me and that Alpha and I couldn't be more disheartened.

It felt like a betrayal of everything that I stood for. Everything that I had been through had taught me never to trust a male Alpha ever again. The very existence of the bond felt like a betrayal to me and my wolf. And betrayal hurts like a bitch. But the existence of this new bond also meant something dreadful...a confirmation. A confirmation that I hadn't wanted.

But remembering the Alpha suddenly made me realize, much to my amazement, that the so called Alpha and his punk were still in the dungeons and I'd forgotten to get them out on time. Three days had passed since I threw them in the dungeon without any food or water. Wolves could survive a lot longer than normal humans but their insulating materials had been removed so the cold must be deadly down in the dungeons.

"Come on," I told Aya as I got up from the bed once again. "It's time."

"Huh?" She looked at me confused. "Time for what?"

"To free the prisoners from the dungeons."

"Oh shit!"

"Exactly."
