There was a distance between us, I hesitated as he came nearer and then I took another step back. I felt heartbroken and a tear fell on my face but then I felt angry so angry that I jumped. Ice, I felt cold around my body that my eyes opened and I felt the saltiness of my tears. I stood up and hugged my knees

I'm sorry.... The voice inside me says

Were those yours?

Yes, they are mine...

Who are you?...

I know not....

And you don't know why you're living inside me...

Yes, you are correct...

The phone suddenly rang I answered it and heard Gemma. It was 9 in the morning

"May!" she cried

"Gemma, hey"

"Something's wrong with Debra, ever since the field trip she seemed kind of strange lately"

I was alarmed "What do you mean strange?"

"She says she's been seeing things like blood and she would stare at me in a weird way and I swear, I know it's crazy and please tell me I am...when she was laughing I think I saw fangs"

my heart skipped a beat and I tried to maintain my sarcastic tone to her to hide the reality of the situation

"That's crack right there" I laughed hoarsely, oh God I feel so terrible lying to her "Please tell me you didn't stop taking your meds"

"I took some today I swear" she replied "I swear!"

I can hear the desperation in her voice looking for answers and I was lying to her. I placed the my Blackberry down and sighed this is gonna be a long day. I rushed downstairs and almost bumped my dad, he seemed surprised

"And where are you going young lady?" he asks

"Well, I'm heading to Debra's house because we are working on a project" I slightly smiled

" I don't believe you" he grinned "But let's say that I do, as a father I would say good luck sweetie I hope you get a good grade" his smile faded "But as your leader, do what you need to do to fulfill your duty as a facade"

" Yes Your Highness" I said grimly as I rushed outside. Geez. I was a bit flustered, this was hunting for me I felt it. I had this urge to run like the wind but that would be later on, I tried to stop myself from worrying about Debra, there are vampires to slay haha funny. I ran a bit faster since no one was around the forest I smelled something odd and fairly good at the same time. I stopped and let the scent consume me, yes, yes, a vampire was near. The scent lead me to a man with a suit. He was walking peacefully as if he was on his way to work I was a little confused but my senses were telling me to kill him instantly. As I slowly went towards him he met my eyes and then suddenly fell to his knees, I took a step back

" Please don't kill me" he pleaded "I swear I didn't hurt anybody"

"That's impossible" I smirked " If I spare you, you're gonna attack a lot and some of them will survive and become like you"

his face became red, and then looked away " That was my life before until I met my wife Sylvia" to be honest, he seemed like a pretty nice guy for someone to be a vampire. I watched him closely as he insisted that I visit his humble abode. I was greeted by a woman in a floral dress, her hair was tied in a bun; she looked plain with her brown locks and eyes but there was something so gentle about her

" It's not everyday my husband brings a friend over especially a young lady. Oh I'm Sylvia by the way, Vlad's wife" she says happily as if she married a perfect man

" Please to meet you Sylvia so how long have you two been married?" I asked

" Five wonderful years! Oh it's a miracle because I thought no man would have me since I am infertile"

I made a oh sound, and I did it sincerely since I was a bit surprised. My eyes quickly turned to Vlad who walked towards us with a tray of cookies, strawberry shortcake and green tea. I watched him look over his wife with endearment. Is this even possible? A human and a vampire living in one roof and loving each other? Did this mean anything to me? This man right here was doing the impossible. As I was waiting patiently, Sylvia stood up and answered the phone

"So tell me about your fairytale, how'd you meet cinderella?" I asked Vlad bluntly

" It was a miracle, it's not everyday that God would give miracles to cursed people such as I"

"Were you bitten?"

"No, I was born a vampire, my mother was bitten and the virus came to me as she died"

"How did you...?"

"The thirst?" he grinned and his face brightened "When I met Sylvia, I vowed to myself that I will never ever hurt a human again, and if you ask me how I maintain my diet Facade well I try to obliterate the primal instincts residing in me. Five years of practice and eating a good diet well I never thought possible and yes I attend church. I feel appropriate to do so for everything I have now"

"That's a special thing you have Vlad to turn your back from the darkness residing within you, I will spare your life but if Sylvia ever gets hurt I'm coming after you."

"I'd rather die than lay a finger on her" he says with might "Facade you have my word"

"Thank you Vlad, by the way call me May."

I've decided that my friendship with Vlad and Sylvia will remain a secret from my family. I know it's wrong but I need to know more about these so called vampires and why did call it virus? Was there something scientific about vampirism like a disease that can be cured?

Stop thinking you're way in over your head May

Well I can't be blamed, now that I know things I must know more

And what are you to do with the knowledge?

Raise awareness of course, I don't think Facades should be some sort of robot to just kill if he or she identified the enemy. This has to be dealt with logic too...

You're right, but May you're the only one with that kind of logic. Surely you will be misunderstood.

I know that the voice residing inside me was right, I'm the only one who was convinced that not all should be slain on the spot. There should be a law or a rule and that, to be honest, is really gonna take a while to arrange.
