This is my first story... Enjoy!

Prologue

As the night fell, a whisper of wind was blew throughout the village. A dark shadow cast over the big black house. The caster of the shadow was of no man, but a horned beast. The beast was not a demon nor a monster, it was anything, but a animal. The mighty beast moved slowly and stealthily, surprisingly quiet for a beast that was a size of a bear and was as vicious as a Cerberus. The godforsaken creature suddenly disappeared for a second, and a corpse of the creature was found the next day with a arrow to the knee.

Chapter 1

Xerxes Vessalis was a son of a well known merchant. He had a black hair as dark as the night in new moon. He had a average build and was pretty smart for his age. He had a impressive swordsmithship, but slacking when it got to academic subjects such as reading and writing. His father was a successful merchant, known for selling high-quality merchandise such as silk so elegant that it was once purchased by the Earl of Cambridge. Even though Xerxes Vessalis's father was successful merchant, Xerxes despised his dad. He was a drunkard with a extremely short temper, he was also an drug smuggler that wouldn't hesitate to sell a pregnant woman a gram of cocaine. Xerxe's ma died when he was young so there was no way he could control his father. One day, when Xerxes helped his father unload a cargo of livestock, he took a bag of gold and stole a horse, then ran away. He rode the horse and galloped into the forest known as the Thedfordshire. There he cantered across the forest going at the speed of 13 leagues per a hour. As the night fell, Xerxes stopped his horse and let it graze on a patch of grass. There were no lakes or rivers in the forest so Xerxes had nothing to quench his thirst. He felt foolish, he forgot to bring his pack and all he had was a pouch of gold.  He had about  ₤100 worth of gold, so he had to wait until he sold it to the black market. Xerxes lay on a bush and went to sleep

Chapter 2

He woke up before sunrise and got on the horse. He was glad that his horse wasn't eaten by a pack of wolf or a bear. He had planned to sell his horse to an butcher when he got to the nearest village. It took him 2 hours to get to the Barrington. There he was bought a pack with necessities and 3 dozens of arrows with the money he got after he sold the gold he had stolen from his father. He also bought a sword, in case he encountered a someone or something that meant him harm. He decided to keep the horse the horse he stole and bought a saddle for comfort and decieded to go to Ireland, where he knew his father would never look for him expect him to be. As soon as he got on his horse, a big, black feline stood in front of the horse. The black feline pounced on top of his horse ripping the abdomin of the mare with its dagger-like claws. Xerxes had no time to load his arrow or unsheath his sword. As soon as the beast jumped up and finished chewing the mare's intestine, a dagger flew through the air and hit the jaguar in the back of the neck, killing the vicious beast. For a second Xerxes stood there, shocked to see two corpse in front of him. Before he covered from the shock, a cloaked figure suddenly appeared in front of him. The figured instantly hit him in the collar bone and knocked Xerxes out.
