Chapter 7 - Meet The Gaskarths

*SAMMI*

I stood behind Alex and Jack moving from one foot to another nervously waiting for Alex to ring the doorbell.

"Sweetie, it'll be fine, I promise! They'll love you! How can they not?!" Alex laughed and ruffled my hair as I smiled up at him slightly and nodded. He bent down to my eye level and moved the fringe from my eyes and looked straight into them "I promise". For some reason those two words coming from his mouth relaxed my mind and I smiled slightly more making his eyes light up. He stood to look at Jack "You told my parents I had a surprise for them and to expect one more for dinner right?" Jack thought for a second and then nodded

"Yup! Your mom said she looked forward to us coming...which is actually what she said to me last night as well" Jack winked and Alex punched his arm as I laughed "Kidding!" Jack shouted to stop Alex from hitting him. Alex rang the doorbell and just as the door was about to open Jack leaned over and whispered "It's been at least a week since she said that". Alex's eyes widened and as he went to punch Jacks arm again the door swung open. Jack was the first to speak

"HEY MRS GASKARTH!" He yelled and jumped on her.

"Heyeey Jackie" she laughed. I think I noticed an English accent? Maybe? Jack jumped off and ran into the house yelling for Alex's dad. Alex's mom turned to look at Alex

"So how is my boy?" Yup, definitely English. She hugged Alex and ruffled his hair and he chuckled "And what's this I hear about a surprise for me and your father?!" She sounded excited and I hid behind the porch wall a tiny bit more

"I'm good mom, actually I'm pretty awesome! I have someone you need to meet!" Alex looked behind him to find I wasn't there. For a second I saw complete panic in his eyes until he looked behind the wall and sighed with relief. Mrs. Gaskarth peered around the corner following  Alex's eyeline until she found me. Her eyes widened and she stepped down from the porch step.

"She's...a bit...young Alex" she whispered to him and he laughed

"No mom! This is Sammie...I'm going to be adopting her" he looked down and scratched the back of his neck. Her head snapped towards me and her eyes lit up. She ran over and engulfed me in a hug then pulled away and looked at my face.

"Oh honey, you're so beautiful! Oh my! Alex why didn't you tell me you were adopting an angel?!" she wiped her eyes and ran her hands through my hair.

"Well I didn't even know until a few days ago, it just sort of...happened" he laughed and mouthed 'I said she would love you' to me. I smiled at him and looked at the floor. Mrs. Gaskarth gasped

"Oh my gosh...I'm a grandmother! Oh my! This is so...surreal...your father is going to go crazy..." she whispered to herself and Alex chuckled and held his mothers shoulder

"I think we should go inside...your grand-daughter is turning blue" he said and Mrs. Gaskarth's eyes widened even more (IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?!) and she grabbed my wrist and pulled me inside and into the warmth.

"PETERRRR! LOOK! JUST LOOK AT OUR BEAUTIFUL GRANDCHILD!!" Mrs. Gaskarth shouted into the house. I heard something smash on the floor from inside the kitchen and heavy footsteps running towards us

"What do you mean grandchild?! Alex I swear to god if you go a girl preg-" he stopped shouting when he saw me standing in the hallway. He looked extremely confused

"Err...dad...this is Sammi. I'm adopting her..so yeah...meet your grand-daughter" Alex laughed as he rubbed his neck. His father got tears in his eyes as he looked at me and he opened his arms out for me to hug him. I looked unsurely at Jack who was stood behind Mr. Gaskarth. He just nodded at me and smiled. Slowly I walked towards my new grandad and wrapped my arms around him. The sudden comfort I felt in his arms was unreal and so I leaned into him more. After a few minutes I pulled away to see that I had got tears all over his shirt.

"Sorry" I whispered as I gestured to it. He looked down and chuckled

"It's all good sweetie! Damn you're like an angel" he said staring at me. It began to get uncomfortable until we heard another smash from the kitchen. We all turned to see Jack with Alex on his shoulders trying to reach the cookie jar on top of the cupboards, a smashed glass at their feet. Syncronised, they both turned their faces to look at us and slowly smiled as innocently as they could. I started laughing uncontrolably, causing everyone else to as well. Unfortunitely for Alex, this meant that Jack lost his balance and they both ended up spread out on the floor.

~After Dinner~

*ALEX*

Sammi and mom were upstairs looking at old photos and so me, Jack and dad were sitting outside on the chairs by the pool.

"So...how?" my dad asked, turning to me

"Urm well I got a phonecall from this agency who said they wanted me to come and adopt a kid. I just found out I couldn't actually have children...so it was kind of this miracle I guess. And then when I saw Sammi's profile she was just kind of...perfect." I explained as I looked down at the beer in my hand and took a sip.

"How does the band feel?" This time dad looked at Jack

"We all love her. I mean, Matt's a bit...cautious but otherwise we all adore her. She's like the bands little sister. We can't wait to tour with her" Jack smiled excitedly

"You're taking her on tour with you? But what about education? Friends?"

"Well...Matt can do maths with her, Vinny can do science and sales stuff, and then if she wants to do about electronics and lighting and sound engineering we have like a whole crew! Not to mention, she's tourin with a band so she can do music! And I can teach her English! We just have to sign her up to do these online test things so they can check what she's learnt every week" my dad nodded and clapped me on the back

"Well done son, seems like you've got it sorted" I nodded and he smiled. We heard two sets of footsteps running through the house and I suddenly panicked. I looked to where Jack had been standing and only saw an empty bottle of beer "Well shit..." dad whispered amusedly. I looked to where he was looking on the balcony. Jack stood on the edge holding Sammi above his head and singing 'We Are The Champions', she was laughing and yelling at him to let her down. As he began to walk forward more his foot slipped on ice.

 He dropped her and my stomach churned.

HEY GUYS SORRY IT'S BEEN SO LONG AND THAT THIS CHAPTER IS SHORT AND THAT IT KINDA ENDED ON A CLIFF HANGER. ANYWAY, I FINALLY UPDATED!!! THAN YOU GUYS SO MUCH FOR OVER 7000 READS! IT MEANS SO MUCH TO ME THAT YOU GUYS ARE ENJOYING IT AND THAT PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY READING THIS! SO YEAH, WHAT DO YOU THINK IS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT?!
