We spent lots of days in and out of the hospital. Lots of tests were done.
I wish I could have talked to Ruby, like actually talked. I wish I could have told her with words how strong she was. I was so proud of her as they stuck needles in her and how she barely even cried. She was such a fighter.
One day Ruby sat in Mommys lap with me in her arms, her chin resting on my head. The doctor looked at us with worried eyes. The air was so tense and I felt how sacred Mommy and Daddy were.
The doctor couldn't look any of us in the eyes when he told us. It was as if he was talking to the wall because telling anyone this kind of news would shatter hearts.
And it did.
