She moved her head to the side, eyes closed, face pale. Sweat beaded on her forehead as she took another sip of gin, burning her throat as she gulped it down. She never drank, but she'd been told that alcohol relieved pain - and she was feeling so much, so much pain right now.

She could drink an entire bottle of gin.

She could drink a gallon.

Outside, through the dusty window and the faded curtain, the moon cast down thin silver rays of light. She made a point of staring at the cracked wooden floorboards, but no matter where she looked she still saw the rays.

Those glimmering beams of light followed her wherever she went. Those glimmering beams of light reminded her of happier days. She wanted to close her eyes, but she knew that even if she did so, it wouldn't matter.

A/N:

This is going to be relatively short, but I just wanted to say thanks so much for giving this book a chance! <3 I hope you're enjoying it so far!

Just as a heads up about the structure of this story: As you probably already know, this book will be divided into different parts, with each part telling the story about a character and what they've gone through. All chapters about a character are going to be pretty short as I believe it fits the style of this book. At the end of each part there will be a question asked:

Whose fault was it?

The answer? Up to you.

Remember to vote and comment if you enjoyed! (An author needs some motivation, lol) xD
