Riley's Point of View

I have never been so nervous in my entire life. I stepped into the shower and switched on the water. I breathed steadily to calm my nerves. This was my problem, I was always so nervous. Soon, I plucked up the courage to carry on. I grabbed my lynx body wash and washed my body quickly, then I grabbed some shampoo and washed my hair. I got out and dried myself off. I put a towel around my waist and walked into my bedroom. First, I tried to hunt for a pair of boxers; I definitely don't have the most organized room ever... I need to sort that out soon. Especially before Ava see's it.

I walked over to my wardrobe and pulled out a pair of dark washed jeans, a blue ralph lauren polo and blue vans. I got myself dressed and walked over to the mirror in my bathroom. Quickly sorting my hair out with some gel, I looked at myself in the mirror. I could see myself shaking, I was never good when it came to things like this. Soon, I snapped out of it and applied some cologne - okay maybe more than just some.

I went to my room, grabbed  my hoodie and ran down the stairs. Then I saw my dad in the kitchen... time to work my magic.

"Hey Dad!" I said smiling.

"What are you after son?" he said laughing.

"I was just wondering if I could use your car tonight. I have a date and I really want to make it special. Your car would be per-"

"Okay son, I'll trust you with it..." he cut in. "If I find one scratch on it; you'll be grounded until you hit college though, so be warned!" he joked pointing at me and trying to make his eyes pop out of his head.

"Thanks Dad, I won't let you down" I said thankfully.

"It's okay, go have fun son!" he replied, tossing the car keys towards me. "Don't be too late home" he added.

Yes! That worked out as planned. Now I just have to stop off at the grocery store and grab some food. I'm thinking a picnic... I hope she doesn't think I'm boring or anything. I just want her to have a nice time... a date she hasn't had before.

I went to the cupboard and took out my mother's picnic basket, complete with all the cutlery I needed and a blanket to lay on. I walked out of my house and got into my Dad's M6 BMW Convertible. He seriously worked so hard for this car, I better be careful. I drove to the store whilst thinking of what food and drink to get and listening to the radio. I got out of the car and wandered into the store, I'm thinking chocolate covered strawberries, coleslaw, potato salad, bread, salad etc. That'll do right? I paid for the groceries and walked back to my car.

I unloaded the groceries into the picnic basket ready for our date. Then I hopped in and started up the engine. Looking at the clock, I realised the time. It was quarter to seven. The last thing I wanted to do was be late, so I'd better hurry up. I took off straight away. Serious butterflies filled my stomach. She's so beautiful, I'd be happy if she even smiled at me, let alone agreed to come on a date with me.

Ava's Point of View

I'm finally ready. I walked down the stairs and told my dad where I was going, he smiled at me approvingly, I think he noticed that I haven't been the same since mum died. Tears welled in my eyes at the thought of her, I missed her so much.

The door bell rang and I made my way to the door, of course it was Riley. Looking as gorgeous as ever. A huge smile spread across my face, I shouted goodbye to my Dad and closed the door behind me. I then felt his hand on mine, he played with my fingers as he walked me to the passenger's seat. It was only then that I noticed the car.

"Oh my god! This car is amazing." I said looking truly amazed. Taking a step back from it, I smiled awkwardly. The last thing I wanted was to scratch it or anything. With my co-ordination that was definitely a possibility.

Riley chucked at me.

"It's my fathers, he has a passion for cars. He's always wanted a car he could treasure but, I managed to get him to let me use it for tonight" he said smiling.

"Oh well, aren't we lucky!" I said winking, adding a flirty hint of sarcasm to my voice.

Riley smiled at me and opened the passengers door for me to get in, then closed it behind me. An instant smile spread across my face. I feel like the luckiest girl alive right now! He got into the car, turned on the radio and started driving. All the way there he glanced sideways at me as if he was amazed by me, this made me feel truly special. When he said he was going to surprise me, he meant it. I had no idea where we were going and he wouldn't tell me when I asked. I sat impatiently and mockingly crossed my arms and acted upset. He chuckled to himself and continued to drive. He definitely wouldn't budge.

When we finally arrived, I noticed we were at a place that I had never been to before. It was beautiful here, there was an amazing view of the sea and the stars, it was truly breath taking. This definitely wasn't the city. I turned to him and smiled approvingly. He looked at me too with a kind of relieved expression on his face but, he was smiling none the less.

He pulled out the picnic basket and smiled sweetly at me.

"You know, youur lucky you came out with a guy who has great taste in food" Riley joked, whilst motioning to the picnic basket.

"Your lucky you came out with a girl who trusts your judgement." I replied cheekily, chuckling to myself at my amazingly quick line, this was a rare event for me.

He looked at me and laughed. He laid out the blanket and set down the picnic basket. We both laid and looked at the stars, it was truly amazing, you can't really see the stars from inside the city.

"So, I'm really glad you came." Riley said, a small blush creeping onto his cheeks.

"I'm glad I did too" I replied, smiling at him.

"So, were your parents alright with you coming?" Riley asked, making small talk.

"Well, my Dad was," I replied.

"Well that's relieving but, what about your mother?" he asked.

"Well uh, my mother died of cancer two years ago." I said with tears welling up in my eyes.

"I'm so sorry" Riley said, instantly rubbing my sholder to comfort me.

"It's fine" I said, almost crying now.

Riley looked at me sympathetically.

"I remember when we used to sit and talk about boys. I used to have little crushes when I was younger. My mother always used to laugh along. She told me I could get any guy I wanted, they'd be lucky to have me and I always believed her. I loved that I could tell my mother anything and then she got sick," I explained.

I couldn't stop myself from crying, the memory of her took me off guard. I didn't want Riley to feel bad so, I tried to fake a smile. My heart wouldn't let me. There had been a hole in my heart since she died and I missed her so much. More and more everyday.

Riley leaned over and started hugging me. He looked at me with his blue, piercing, caring eyes and wiped a falling tear off my cheek.

"Ava, I really am sorry. I had no idea," he said apologetically.

"It's fine, i just really miss her that's all" I reasoned, trying to make Riley feel better.

"That's understandable, I'd really miss my mother too if she were gone" he stated.

That's when Riley and I finally connected. He looked at me and stroked my cheek, I looked up at him and he lifted up my chin and kissed me. I felt shockwaves racing through my body. The fireworks were immense. My hands brushed through his hair and wrapped around his neck. I finally broke the kiss, not because I wanted to but, because I thought I was drowning his face in my tears. His eyes were still closed and I smiled at him. When he opened his eyes a smile broke out across his face.

"I thought I was going to drown you in my tears" I said, sounding a little goofy, giggling and sniffing.

"I wouldn't have minded" he said laughing, whilst kissing my forehead.

We both laid cuddling looking up at the stars, on a beautiful night like tonight, who knew amazing things could happen. I wondered to myself if Riley could possibly be the guy i'd been waiting for. One thing is for sure, I knew my mother would love him, his kind heart and his loving personality.
