Chapter Twenty Four

Lizzie’s P.O.V

I froze, startled.

Did he just say he killed some?

I took a step back.

“Lizzie, please let me explain it first. It’s not as bad as it sounds,” he whispered, taking a step closer and reaching his hand out to caress my cheek.

I flinched at his touch and took a step back.

“Lizzie, please,” he begged, his eyes looking lost and sad.

“How?” I croaked, my eyes burning from trying to stop the tears.

“It was two years ago. I was sixteen, drunk and stupid. Me and my friends decided it would be funny if we’d steal a car and to take a drive. So we did just that, and ended up hitting someone. We started panicking and when we realised she was dead, we cleaned up all the evidence that we were in the car and ran away,” Calvin dropped his head and dropped it, “I don’t know how Gina found out, I thought all was forgotten since it was two years ago and they blamed it on this drug addict couple who owned the car.”

I stared it in disbelief, “What? You didn’t own up? You let innocent people take the blame? Are you out of your flipping mind?” I yelled, the tears streaming down my face.

“They weren’t good people Liz, they were known for stealing and abusing people. You need to understand me this was for the best.”

“The best?” I scoffed, laughing in disbelief. “Never really expected you to be such an idiot. If I were you I’d expect you to own up. Now,” I demanded.

“Are you crazy? I wasn’t even the one behind the wheel and besides the couple got released two weeks ago,” he informed.

“And how do you know this?” I asked curiously.

“I did some research.”

It was silent for a minute as I was placing this information in my head.

“Lizzie, please. You got to help me. You can’t let Gina tell anyone. I don’t know what I’d do. Fuck, I don’t know how I would live,” he mumbled, looking slightly pissed.

“Just listen to whatever Gina says,” I answered, hesitantly.

It wasn’t the best thing to do, but it was the only way that Gina would keep her mouth shut.

“But Liz-“

I cut him off, “We’ll keep our distant, and pretend nothing changed, okay? Besides we’re only going to be here for another five days and then it will all be over okay,” I said, reassuring him.

He sighed in relief, “thanks babe, I love you.”

I just nodded, although I still loved him, a lot has changed and I knew our relationship would never be the same.
