Light and Dark

You like to say I’m too dark and with that I can’t argue.

It lets me disappear on cue.

I bathe in darkness because I can’t stand what they make in the light.

All your pretty things make me seem like such an ugly sight.

Maybe, in another place I won’t care.

But I know I’m not quite there.

Maybe, in due time you won’t mind to see me.

But for now I know it’s not meant to be.

I’ll live in the shade, I like it there.

And I’ll watch you as the light shows you to seem rare.

I’ll bathe in the darkness while you shower the light.

You’ll live in your wrong and I’ll live in my right.
