Surprise?

I tentatively walked into my own house, unsure of what was going to happen next. I heard MTV blaring on the TV downstairs, and lots of people giggling and talking, “Hello!” I called, “Char! Downstairs!” hollered Emma. Before descending the stairs I checked my teeth to ensure I looked good for Tucker, I wanted him to see me at my best unlike the night we met. When I arrived in my kitchen where all the noise was I clenched my fists, and put on the bravest smile I could muster, but on the inside, I was shitting my frickin’ pants. “Hey everybody!” I called, as cheery as I could. “Charlee!” They all called back, just as happily. After greeting everyone and seeing what everyone was up to, I turned to Jesse confused, “So uh, I thought Tucker was coming? I don’t see him?” “Oh, yeah...” He said looking around, “He started acting funny right when we got here, I don’t know, he’s somewhere.” I quietly dismissed myself from the group and began my hunt for Tucker. I checked all of the downstairs rooms, the upstairs, every bathroom, my parents room, the dining room, the second living room, I looked outback, out front, everywhere. Everywhere except one place... My bedroom. “Oh god...” I silently cursed myself for being the messy person I am. I slowly opened my door and peeked in to see Tucker sitting quietly on my bed. I swear, every time I saw him he was more, and more beautiful. He just looked up at me with the most curious, yet caring eyes I could imagine, I stopped dead in my tracks, wondering why I hadn’t thought of what I would say once I found him.

“Hey,” he said quietly, yet confidently, with his hundred watt smile in tow. “Hey Tucker,” I replied, “Uhm... It’s great to see you but uh, what are you doing in... Here? Why aren’t you with everyone else?” I tried to sound as confident, and cool as he just had, unfortunately I just sounded like a very scared 13 year old girl. He gave me a playful look and simply said, “W-w-w-well I th-thought you might be up h-h-here... Plus it smelled r-r-really good.” I started laughing hysterically, “Well thanks Tuck, I’m glad you like how I smell!” I said chuckling. I put my hand out and said, “Come one, let’s go back to everyone else.” He slid his hand over mine with such ease, we looked at each other and made our way back to our friends. All the difficulty, and fear quickly left me, I suddenly felt confident, and comfortable, I stole a glance while we were going down the stairs, and was once again stunned by his green eyes, and lengthy lashes, he looked at me and smiled, and not another word was needed.

Alright, modern day Charlee here, blah blah blah, I don’t mean to drone on about the 13 year old Tucker and Charlees, so I’ll just give you the basics. We’ll skip to the spring. As is probably totes obvi, Tuck and I started dating, I know, so effing cute. Anyway, things were cool I guess, for an 8th grade relationship or whatever. It was weird though, like, everyone knew we were so much more. Like, just saw each other in a different light than most 13 year olds do. Whatever, like I said, I’m just gonna go ahead and skip to the spring time, so visualize this, Tuck and yours truly at a night time parade, it was a few days after my birthday, and we were standing by a river, the stars were shimmering, and you could see the reflection of the moon perfectly. Tucker decided to give me my gift now...

“Tucker! Can I look yet!” I whinned, “Charlotte, if you don’t stop you aren’t getting a gift at all,” he quickly scolded. I sighed one of those huge dramatic sighs and flashed a smile at him, I heard him unzipping his backpack, and then he took a deep breath, he placed something in my hands, and quietly said, “Okay, go ahead and look.” My eyes snapped open and I looked down, there was a big envelope in my hands, and it was completely filled with papers. “Awwwh!” I joked, “You gave me your homework! Thanks Tuck!” He shook his head and chuckled, he then brought his hands to my hips and pointed up in the sky, “Y-y-you see the cluster of stars over th-th-th-there?” he asked, I nodded in response, he cleared his throat and said, “I haven’t been able to find w-w-which one yet, but one of those over there is officially c-c-called Charlee Kim.” There was a minute of silence, I was stunned, I looked up at him and finally managed to say. “You... You named a...a star after me?!” I said, shocked. He nodded and smiled. I didn’t know what to do, I practically swallowed him with a hug, and planted a billion kisses on him in thanks, it was the most romantic thing I had ever even heard of. I mean... Are you kidding me?! A newly turned 14 year old boy thought of that?! No way. He’s a keeper for sure, right? Well... Like I said we were young, things change, people change.

Tucker and I broke up that summer, things just didn’t seem to work anymore. But a lot happened that summer! I got my braces off, grew some tits, changed my style, made new friends, all kinds of stuff, and it all led back to the same thing... I was completely, and utterly in love with the boy with the thick jaw line, and bright green eyes, and I had to get him back. Oh, and I was going to, even if it took everything I had.
