IN A MIDNIGHT PLACE
i see me in the flower of your eye,
while framing your scenery in mine-
the way you glow
to know
you make me sigh,
and let caress
undress
the press
of time.
so it is
to live,
belonging in the bounty that we give
and take
without heartbreak,
lying into autumn in each others
sounds and silence-
like summer lovers
whose close couplets sense
what these meanings make them say-
when i behold your face
in a midnight place
and dreams don't turn away.
