Preface

There he was.

The most powerful alpha of all time.

And he was standing a mere 10 feet away from me.

In the werewolf world, a mysterious and dangerous world I belong to, there are very few things that have a reputation as fierce as Zeus.

Stories were told of his untouchable strength and the power he held in his very hands that was too much for any normal man.

And from seeing him in person behind the safety of my father and the 5 warriors we had brought along with us, I could still feel the absolute power of his wolf and him clogging the air around us in the small clearing.

But the funny thing was, it wasn't suffocating.

It was actually....pleasant.

My head was buzzing like mad and my palms were beginning to sweat like crazy, but I still kept my eyes forward and my attention on the 3 nearly perfect beings standing right in front of us.

A hand touched my shoulder suddenly and warmth radiated from his gentle touch, sending waves of calmness and familiarity down my spine and through my veins.

Even after spending 7 years together as best friends, I still wasn't tired of Brent's reassuring touch.

"They shouldn't be here for too much longer, I'm happy they are just checking up on us."

There was an icy edge to Brent's voice. For what reason was beyond me and I took no mind to it.

My mouth opened to reply with a soft "yes," but papa's stern but warm voice suddenly echoed across the clearing.

"Welcome my friends, to the Greenwood pack. I'd just like to thank you for taking the time to check up on us, since the recent rogue attack in the neighboring territory."

Thanks to the shadows cast by the enormous trees in the background, I couldn't see any of the 3 men's reactions to papa's greeting, but I did notice them nodding slightly, thanks to the enhanced wolf sight given to all werewolves.

A musical laugh erupted suddenly from the darkness and I re-focused my tired eyes on the 3 tall figures suddenly making their way toward us.

My stomach twisted up in knots thanks to my nervousness and I couldn't help but let out a shaky breath at the thought of them coming any closer to us.

The one that laughed a few moments ago was the first to step into the light of the moon.

Around 6 feet tall, the blond and slightly bulky man looked more relaxed out the 3 then should be possible. Dirty blond hair, cool gray eyes, a confident smile and an air of authority commanded your respect, but only because he seemed like the type of guy that could be trusted with your most personal secret and he would keep it to the grave. And beyond.

The white t-shirt, worn jeans and combat boots fit him nicely and complimented the muscles on his arms and exposed the tattoos inked on his right arm.

The moon above us shined down on his blond head, highlighting the fine wisps currently swirling in the chilly air. I silently marveled at how he could withstand the bone chilling temperatures with just a t-shirt and jeans.

"It's no problem, Alpha Alexander." He replied with an upturned lip. "We decided on our own terms to come here."

"We?" My father replied in a confused tone.
