A good description is what definetly hooks readers.
I know alot of people say in their description something like, "Nobody reads descriptions anymore" or "Read to find out" but honestly we do read descriptions. They are actually very important.
If you're anything like me, you add things to library solely based off of the description.
The description can be a scene from the middle of your book that hooks your reader because they want to find out how the story got to that place. It's like in movies where they show a very important scene at the beginning before going back and showing how it got to that.
You could also give a good summary for your story. It's important that it doesn't show everything from your book and doesn't give away any surprises.
You could also use a quote from your story that is important to the plot, it would hook your reader but not give too much of the story away.
A Good description is about 4-8 lines long.
