Approving Nature; Making New Friends
I walked into calculus with a giant smile on my face. Standing up to Angie was something I had always wanted to do.
I took my usual seat in the front and middle. My old best friend, Jack, turned to me.
"Uh, hey, sorry, but that's Christina's seat. She always sits there, so could you move?"
I laughed. "Jackie poo, it's me! I'm Christy!"
Since I hadn't seen Jack over the summer, he didn't even recognize me! I wondered how he would take this...
He looked at me, bewildered. "Whoa Christy. What did you do?" His voice sounded... Hurt? What did I do?
"Well, I-"
"It's time to start class now!" The teacher stated WAY too enthusiastically.

After calculus, I had English, World History, and Science. My backpack felt full of bricks already, and it was only lunchtime. What is it with high school teachers and homework? In my opinion, homework on the first day is torture.
Wandering in to the lunchroom, I wondered where to sit. With Jack, or somewhere else? Biting my lip nervously, I looked around.
I couldn't let my new personality go on the first day! I decided to be bold and I marched over to the table where the popular people sat.
"Hey, can I sit here?" I asked Hailey, a girl who was in the semi-popular group. She gaped at me for a moment.
"Christy?"
"Oh, can I not sit here? I'm sorry." I backed away.
"Oh, no, sit, please! I didn't mean it like you couldn't sit, I just... ugh. Excuse me. But now everyone knows who you are! I mean like, wow! And standing up to Angie like that... You're the first. But it's time for her to give up the throne. Someone nicer needs to step up."
I nodded my head in agreement. Hailey and I chatted and I met a few other semi-popular people. There was Kat, a blondie with grey eyes, Tina, a brunette with greenish eyes, and Vera(short for Veronica), a black haired girl with brown eyes. We got along really well, and I ended up with three new contacts in my cell phone.

At the end of the day, I got a text.

Why didn't Jack approve? I just needed a change, and I won't change who I am as a person for them. I sighed and started a group chat.
